Paving the Path for Job Security with Industry Certifications

December 23rd, 2009 by

Job security and unemployment are on the top of everyone’s mind. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor, in November 2009 the unemployment rate was 10%, one of the highest points over the last 10 years. Construction and manufacturing were hit the hardest while temporary help services and health care added jobs. This makes for an interesting shift. There are fewer jobs for people without education. A company called LearnKey is now providing a series of training videos for CompTIA A+ certification, created for those entering the IT industry. It’s proven that anyone in the IT industry needs the base foundation provided in CompTIA A+ hardware/software training.

CompTIA A+ , has rapidly set the standard for computer technicians. CompTIA A+ accreditation is recognized by the American National Standards Institute. A+ is meant to ascertain an individual’s overall ability to handle computers. It is specifically meant to be vendor nonspecific, so an A+ certified technician can be counted on to be able to handle any computer whether it be an Apple, a PC, or Linux, and should be competent in dealing with the various hardware configurations for each. In short, it is the benchmark for proving technical competency, and it is a must have for anyone seeking a career in computer repair, maintenance, or administration. CompTIA A+ 2009 is the most recent version of the course.

If you could eavesdrop on the entire Earth, you would hear Chinese. Would you understand anything?

October 12th, 2009 by

Contrary to common belief, the most widely spoken language in the world is not English, but Mandarin Chinese. Research conducted in the last years points out that Mandarin is spoken by about 1 billion people in the world, being followed by Spanish, English, Hindi and Arabic. Surprisingly, in the 16th edition of Ethnologue, French and Italian are not even included in the top 10 most spoken languages, although they are of international use. Pretty amazing findings, isn’t it? In other words, if someone would be able to perceive sounds from outside Earth, the loudest ones would be in Chinese. Indeed a good reason to learn Chinese, isn’t it?

On one hand, if we think from a demographic perspective, the supremacy of the Chinese should not come as a surprise. Chinese are after all the most numerous nation on the planet. But one the other hand, people speaking Chinese are pooled together in one side of the world, which makes it not a very popular language, in spite of its supremacy in terms of number of speakers. English, for instance, although is spoken by less then a half people, has the advantage of being spread in all corners of the world, which leads to the impression that it is the most spoken language. So if you can already speak English, the most widely spread language, why wouldn’t you bother to learn Chinese, the other top spoken language on our planet?

Many people know very little about Chinese, not to mention that most of the non-native-speakers can’t say a single word in this language. So let’s see what are the most interesting facts about the most spoken language on Earth:

* Mandarin Chinese is the official language in China, Taiwan, one of the fourth official languages in Singapore and one of the six in the United States. So learn Chinese and make yourself understood on two continents.
* Mandarin became the official language in China starting with 1644 when Manchu overthrew the Ming dynasty.
* Mandarin Chinese is a tonal language, which means that one word can describe different concepts, according to the used tone. Mandarin features four tones: flat, rising, falling then rising and falling.
* Mandarin words have one grammatical form. This means that there are no variations for singular/plural, no verbal tenses, voices, genders, or persons. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, it is not simple at all, because, in exchange, Mandarin has a very complicated system of suffixes, which does not resemble to any of the ones used in the European languages.
* The written Mandarin counts around 50,000 characters, but actually only 5,000 are being taught in the secondary school and about 3,000 are needed to read a newspaper.

And here is a nice one: the word “mandarin” is not Chinese, it is based on a combination of Sanskrit and Portuguese, meaning “commanders”. After all, Chinese rules the world languages.

If the facts presented above make you doubt your ability to learn Mandarin Chinese, I will only tell you this: Shijieshang meiyou buneng kefu de kunnan. In other words (English), there is no difficulty in the world that cannot be overcome.

If you want to join the large community of Chinese speakers, make the first step at fluentfuture.com. Here you can learn Chinese or another language for free, meeting native speakers of the language you are seeking to learn, or pay rated teachers for individual lessons.

The Secrets Of Speed Reading

August 28th, 2009 by

Some say that speed reading is completely different from regular reading and that it is just like learning how to read all over again. I am not that radical, I am with those saying that speed reading is not for everyone and that it takes a lot of work to reach a level where you can successfully speed reading. The results, however, are spectacular. Boy I wish I knew how to do speed reading back in high school, it would have saved me a lot of hours spent studying. The best part about speed reading is that it is pretty easy to learn if you are willing a few hours. There is no test period, and everything you learn will stay with you just like when you are normally reading a book, newspaper or whatever else reading material. During the course of this article I will present you with a few tips and practical exercises that you can regularly perform in order to home in your speed reading skills.

First of all, remember that any speed reading exercise you perform needs will not becoming truly effective without you reading at least 20-30 pages. Just look at the clock and start reading. At first you need to read normally just to see how long it actually takes you to go through all the pages. Try to read faster and faster but without stressing your mind. You can try and improve your speed reading skills page by page. Time each page to see the results. This is always a powerful incentive. With enough practice you will be able to let your eyes skip over the words like they are not even there. This is the entire scope of speed reading, making reading an automated process, just like breathing for example or breathing.

This second trick or exercise that you can do in order to improve your speed reading skills is called skimming. Skimming means that you do not actually read all the words. By technical definition, in the case of speed reading, skimming requires you to first read the index of the book and then a couple of paragraphs from the beginning and the ending of the book. However, before you do this you need to perform other related speed reading exercises. Take a page of text that has well balanced paragraphs. Read it once to get a feel for it, although remember that later you will not have this luxury. Then you must start reading faster and faster even if it seems a bit erratic. Start reading a couple of lines at once for starters. I know this seems hard, or even impossible, but I assure you it?s not.

Here is the last piece of advice you need in order to successfully perform speed reading. Create a calm and quiet environment. Make sure that no one is talking on the phone, watching tv, listening to music and so on. It is best that you find an unused room, but if that is not possible then ask anybody that is in the room with you to keep quiet. Close the windows and make sure you have something to drink and even a snack within reaching distance. Last but not least remember to take your breaks. Speed reading is not effective if you do not take a break every now and again, usually 5 minutes for every half an hour or, if you prefer, 10 minutes for each hour spent speed reading.

August 5th, 2009 by

Are you looking for a career change? Perhaps the thriving security industry may have gotten your attention. But bear in mind that making a career switch requires effort. You will have to put in some time and resources to equip yourself with the necessary skills so that you can serve the market. If you have the persistence for success, new opportunities are waiting for you round the corner.

The first issue to ponder over, is your education. Without the right qualifications, no security agency will offer you a job. Note that the security industry is a very big industry. There are many areas of specialization - CCTVs, medic first aid, door supervision, conflict management, security guard, and others.

There is no need to rush and take up the first SIA training course that you come across. Think about how your own strengths and weaknesses fit the job. For example, do you prefer more hands on work? If you do, door supervision or being a security guard may be more suitable for you. However, if you prefer to deal with technology, then the CCTV course will be more appropriate. Nobody knows you better than you know yourself. So you have to choose the best course for yourself.

It is highly recommended that you give yourself more time to prepare for the course. Once you have decided on the security course to pursue, sign up as early as possible. This is because there are limited seats available for each course. If you fail to reserve your spot, you will have to sit out of the course and wait for the next one.

In addition, once you sign up for the course, the training materials will be sent to you in advance. This gives you ample time to prepare for the tests way before the course commences. Course details are on the official SIA website. You will be able to see the actual course training dates, time and venues.

Be reminded that SIA courses are not just for the unemployed. They are also for employees. It is common to see companies sending their full time staff for SIA training courses for upgrading purposes. So even if you are holding on to a job, you can always check with your company to see if the organization is willing to send you (and your colleagues) for training.

Usually, you get a positive response from your employer because group and corporate bookings enjoy better discounts. That means the cost per head goes down. When staff undergoes training, they become more loyal to their employers and can perform their jobs better. This is a win-win situation for all parties.

Almost all companies and institutions require some kind of security. Large corporate buildings, schools, offices, etc. - they all need at least some kind of basic security.

SIA training equips you with the necessary skills and knowledge so that you can serve this market well. Of course, you can expect to be compensated well for the effort that you have put in, and for the skills that you have acquired.

Why Do You Need Coursework Writing Service

June 9th, 2009 by

In today’s system of education, coursework writing has become a very important part of the student’s curriculum. The main goal of a coursework is to test the general abilities of people or just to know whether people are able to apply those basic ideas or abilities in some theoretical studies or not. This is because nowadays students are just used to by heart things and pass the syllabus. It is also very important to apply those abilities or use them in some concepts or lessons which are there in the study module. Generally, a coursework is a kind of an essay which is written on a particular topic. Sometimes, it also is a type of an assignment in which you are expected to solve mathematics or some problems. This usually helps in improving your speed of thinking and also helps to determine whether you are able to apply your ideas and thoughts where ever needed or not. Normally, the final result or the grade which a student gets in his syllabus or study course is dependent on all these things.

Due to all these things, it is always possible that writing a coursework can become very very tedious and stressful for many students. Forget about below average or average students, coursework writing can also be very tough for students who are very intelligent and all rounder. So that is why professional coursework writing is preferred by many people. This is because how much ever difficult or tough the subject matter is, the writers manage to write good stuff and finally meet the expectations of the college. They can very well complete the coursework in the stipulated time frames and the coursework given by them is also of very good quality.

There are many reasons why a person needs coursework writing Service. The most common reason is that students are not familiar with the coursework writing topics. They do not have that right kind of a general knowledge about a particular topic or syllabus. Others have that kind of knowledge, but they do not know how to write. Some students are too tensed about the dead lines or they think that they might not be able to complete the coursework writing within a particular time line. To add to the spice, some students also think that by not completing the coursework writing within time, they would hamper their results or academic scores. Some students just feel that it is best to give the task to professionals who can do a complete research and give a very good quality coursework which has all the needed details and analysis. This would help the students to get the success that they are waiting for. The most important thing which is guaranteed if you give your coursework writing to academic writers is that the writers can meet all the requirements as the writers themselves are those who have already worked as professors or lecturers in some of one of topmost colleges or universities in UK.
